The Parish Council can have up to seven members, elected for a four-year term. The next election is due in May 2022. The Council meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except August) at 7.30 p.m. in the Haskayne Village Hall. There is an Annual Assembly of Electors of the Parish on the 2nd Tuesday in May, also at the Village Hall, which is followed by a Parish Council meeting.

In July 2012 the Council was awarded the status of Quality Parish Council by the National Association of Local Councils.

The agenda for each Parish Council meeting is posted on the Council’s notice boards in Haskayne, Downholland, and Barton, by the Wednesday preceeding each meeting and also on this website. Members of the public are welcome at every meeting of the Council and there is a Public Forum at each meeting with the opportunity to ask questions of the Parish Council.

The Council owns the  pavilion adjacent to the village hall and leases the parish field from the Church Commission. The council is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the field. It is also responsible for the upkeep of the Downholland Cross and surrounding grassed area, four bus shelters and three notice boards in the parish.
